Review AXIS Para VENUS MBefore one year I decide to find my next glider. At this moment I was fly one GradientAspen1 and I was looking for something with more performance. After searching the market Ifound 4 gliders that I like:-Gradient Avax XC-Boom Sport-UP Trango3-AXIS Para VENUSBut after my Aspen all that I need was the speed- I like the speed in the air. I thing thegood speed give a pilot more stability and comfort in all conditions, but only if the wing ismanaged well. ☺So I decide to compare the 4 gliders. First was the speed and the situation was like this:1.Venus2.Avax XC3.Boom Sport4.Trango3After this comparing Trango3 fall off. I was hear good opinions about Avax XC andspecially his big thermal advantages. About Venus I have not information, only one friend ofmine was order Mercury 2006. About Boom Sport and his big reputation …. don’t know – Idon’t like the square tips☺ So after few mounts my friend receive his Mercury and I have achance to try it. I like so much handling and speed and I decide: It Will be VENUS☺I order my new wing and after few mounts I receive my parcel with my glider. The color schemewas FIRE and the size M. First my fly was in Competition in Drama , Greece. Haha I was sonervous about my first fly, but everything was great. The wing comes up fast, but without tendencies to go forward. After few steps and I wasairborne. The wing just want to fly. It has a huge trim speed. The breaks are short andprogressively hard. I like how the wing turns- tight and flat. I see up to canopy that the breaksstops more the ears- maybe this make the good turning behavior. Thermaling is so easy- onlyproblem is when I’m in competition with other comp. pilots thermaling -we often are close eachother because they make big turns and my Venus tight. In thermal The Venus is always on thetop☺ At this moment I have more than 30 hours under the Venus and I fly in all conditions. Theturbulence proof is amazing. The wing is so stable that scares me sometimes, but I learn hislanguage and no problems. With good handling collapses happen rarely. No tucks at the moment.Collapses is easy to handle, the wing make all☺ Interesting is when collapse is small (about20%) is needed pumping, but when is more that 30% opening is faster and full. I don’t makeacro, but I thing the wing is so stable and not very appropriated for this. However the wing-oversare clean, spirals effective but you must keep them because the wing goes out from spiral withoutinput. The hard brakes surprise for me have not so short travel. In one accuracy comp. just forfun I fly and discover that the travel to stallpoint is so huge. But in the air must be careful to flythe wing very stopped because in turbulences is easy to make negative spin, not for too muchbreak , but for releasing outer break. The wing is comfortable, without moves, biting into thethermal. When near you has a thermal just leave the wing to show you where is. The speed system is soft (for me) and good. I fly often with speed and can say that 50% speed make thewing close to competition gliders. Only full speed is the difference- LD goes poor than compgliders but still usable and much better than other 2/3 on the market. Some times I fly withOmega 7 and can say honestly that they are very close each other in flight characteristics. So finally I can say that Venus is easy glider close to DHV2 handling but withperformance close to comp. gliders. Every pilot with good skills will be happy with this wing andwill use his full potential.Happy landingsSimeon Podbalkanski
